Why You Should Eat Soaked Almonds: Healthy Option

Almonds might not be everyone’s favorite or for that matter some could be allergic to it.

Here, my aim is to just point out a few benefits of soaked Almonds. 

Many of you must have grown up with your mothers and grandmothers insisting on eating soaked Almonds along with breakfast every day. Also, some of you  must be remembering how they insisted eating Almonds during exam time to sharpen the brain!

I remember this was strictly followed in our home and I have continued with this ritual for my daughter. Now she has herself formed a habit and is particular about including soaked Almonds daily in her breakfast. 

Well, there sure is some logic behind this .



                   Almonds are a healthy snack

1● Almonds are power packed with nutrients like fiber, vitamin E, magnesium, protein and other nutrients. 

2● As they contain vitamin E, they are good for your skin and hair.

3● Almonds are said to improve brain function. Almonds are beneficial for memory. This is based on some studies that have said, vitamin E  helps to prevent cognitive decline therefore it promotes memory. 

4● You can loose weight in a healthy manner by including Almonds in your daily diet. 

5● Better Heart health has been linked to regular intake of Almonds. As Almonds control bad cholesterol and promote good cholesterol, regular intake of Almonds helps in controlling blood pressure, which is good for a healthy heart. 

6● Almonds are good for diabetics also.

Well, now we know the various health benefits associated with Almonds. But what is the scientific reason behind getting more out of it by eating them soaked?


1● Soaked Almonds are easily digested. Nutrients get digested easily. Soaked Almonds produce an enzyme that helps in digestion.

2● Almonds are a rich source of antioxidants. When we eat soaked Almonds it’s benefits and nutrients multiply. 

3● It is suggested that soaked Almonds produce certain enzymes like lipase that give a boost to our metabolism, thus helping in weight loss.

4● Another reason to soak Almonds is removal of phytic acid which hinders absorption of nutrients. Soak Almonds to absorb zinc and iron by the body.


Eat Almonds in the morning to give an energy boost to your body.

You can eat soaked Almonds on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. 

You can eat soaked Almonds along with your breakfast. 

Soaked Almonds can be eaten along with cereals, in smoothies or shakes.

If you don’t want to have them in the morning, eat them as a snack any time. You can add a few variety of other dry fruits like walnuts, raisins, cashews etc. These will satisfy your hunger pangs and keep you away from junk food thus helping in reducing weight. 


As a rule never overeat anything. Just because soaked Almonds are healthy it does not mean you keep eating them throughout the day. 

Soak Almonds overnight and eat them in the morning. 3 to 4 Almonds can be easily consumed. Some people are comfortable eating about 8 to 9.

There is no hard and fast rule about the consumption of Almonds. Eat them only if you like them. Some might report allergies, so be cautious. There are substitutes available in place of Almonds that provide the same benefits, costing less than Almonds. Personally, I would suggest eating 3 to 4 soaked Almonds daily for optimum health benefits.
